NEON RUSH
A 3D browser race-platformer: sprint a floating neon course, hit every gate in order, and race a ghost of your own best run.
NEON RUSH is a 3D race-platformer that runs in the browser. You are a runner on a floating neon course: hit every gate in order, ride the moving platforms, launch off the boost strips, and cross the finish line as fast as you can. Your best run is saved, and a ghost of it races alongside you next time.
There are six circuits - each with its own theme, signature mechanic, record, and ghost - plus an endless mode that keeps building track in front of you until you fall off. Keep running cleanly and you build flow: your cruising speed creeps up towards x1.4 (higher in endless), and a crash or a fall drains it away, so a good run is one you keep flowing.
The character is a small jointed rig - hips, torso, head, arms, and legs - animated by pure maths. The gait advances with distance travelled, so the feet never skate, and the ground, air, dash, and landing poses blend together instead of popping. Your best run's ghost uses the same rig with translucent materials, driven by the recorded samples themselves.
The physics are hand written and run on a fixed 1/120 s timestep, so behaviour never depends on the display refresh rate and the renderer can interpolate between steps. Every piece of world geometry is a sheared box whose eight corners feed both the collider and the mesh, so the visuals cannot drift from the collision. The tracks are built by a cursor-based builder rather than typed by hand, and the course tests hold every map to what it is meant to contain.
It is plain ES modules with no build step, no CDN, and no network access at runtime: Three.js is vendored into the project, and every texture and sound is generated at runtime. A Node test suite covers physics, geometry, the endless generator, and an autopilot that must finish every track using only the level data - the proof that the courses are beatable with real margins.
